In today's digital world, people cannot exist without a bank account. Post office accounts are more accessible to common people. You can open your savings account by making a minimum deposit of Rs.500 at the post office. You can open an account both online and offline. Post office account holders are given certain tax benefits under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act.
You can get tax deduction on the interest amount up to Rs.10,000 you can earn per year through your savings account with the post office. Mobile number is required to be linked with your savings account to check balance online. If maybe mobile number is not linked then you can link mobile number with CIF number of your post office account.

E-Passbook Facility:
1. Download the post office app on your mobile and login by filling in the details.
2. Click on the heading Balance & Statement.
3. Select Mini Statement and give ok.
4. You will then be taken to the balance and statement page. You can see the balance directly there.
5. If you want to get the statement, you can download it by selecting a specific period.
How to check balance through phone message?
If you want to check balance via SMS, type REGISTER and send SMS to 7738062873. After your mobile number is registered, you can know the balance amount by typing BAL again to the same number. Similarly, you can check your statement by typing MINI and sending it.Missed Call Service:
To check your post office account balance and statement through missed call service, first you need to register by calling 8424054994. Then again if you give it to the number mistukal can know your balance and statement details.IPPB Mobile App:
Download this app and register with your account number, CIF number, date of birth, mobile number etc. Now an OTP number will be sent to your mobile number. After that, if you set up an A-PIN, you will be able to know the balance details whenever needed.Phone Banking:
Dial 155299 from your mobile. Follow the IVRS instructions as it may appear. Select your language and get balance and statement details.
